The Rader high bridge on the A7 motorway – one of Germany's most important north-south connections – is one of the most significant infrastructure projects in Northern Europe.

KJJ Logistik AG is responsible for all heavy-duty logistics here: from transport coordination and special transports requiring permits to precise crane assembly.

We overcome challenges on a daily basis: complex traffic management during ongoing operations, tight closure times and construction phases, the highest safety requirements and the coordination of many partners. This is precisely where our strength lies – we keep projects running smoothly.

With over 30 years of experience in bridge construction, tailor-made heavy transport logistics and a clear focus on just-in-time supply chains, we ensure the smooth running of this complex project. This also includes temporary storage concepts, SPMT deployments, pontoon solutions and close cooperation with authorities and project partners.

A central transport hub for millions of people – and KJJ Logistik AG helped to keep it together.

The Salzbachtal Bridge is one of the most important infrastructure projects in the Wiesbaden area. KJJ Logistik AG took on all heavy-duty logistics for the replacement construction project: transport coordination, temporary storage and precise crane assembly.

Challenges we mastered: narrow routes in the urban area, limited space, assembly work while traffic was flowing and up to 12 components per day. In addition, there was a high level of coordination required with numerous partners – precisely organised by KJJ Logistik AG.

With experience, foresight and perfect coordination, we ensured that this project progressed reliably under complex conditions.

Schierstein Bridge – 18,500 tonnes of heavy-duty logistics brought to the point

720 bridge sections. 18,500 tonnes. Nine years of construction: the Schierstein Bridge between Mainz and Wiesbaden is one of Germany's largest bridge construction projects – an infrastructure project that placed the highest demands on logistics, coordination and transport planning.

Tight space constraints, permits for up to 208 tonnes, flexible route management and a construction period of nine years with ongoing cycle adjustments – the challenges posed by the Schierstein Bridge were enormous.

Nevertheless, KJJ Logistik AG ensured smooth operations thanks to its experience, reliable planning and close coordination with all parties involved.

KJJ Logistik AG was responsible for the precise implementation of heavy-duty logistics across both construction phases: transport coordination, temporary storage and crane assembly – reliable, predictable and on schedule.

Lifting with millimeter precision.

Using SPMT systems and hydraulic lowering, KJJ Logistik AG positioned the support element with millimetre precision at +5 metres – despite the confined space in the city centre.

Lift 5 metres. Position with pinpoint accuracy. No room for error.

This bridge construction project in the heart of Düsseldorf demanded the utmost precision: the bridge elements not only had to be transported and temporarily stored, but also lifted to exactly +5 metres using SPMTs and then lowered hydraulically into their final position.

There was no room for error in this project: millimetre precision during final installation, state-of-the-art technology such as SPMTs and lifting systems, and confined space in the middle of Düsseldorf's urban environment made the implementation particularly challenging.

A complex logistical and technical task – exactly the speciality of KJJ Logistik AG.

Project overview

  • Project period: 2020–2021

  • Tonnage: 850 tonnes

  • Location: Düsseldorf

Our services

  • Heavy-duty transport of bridge elements to the construction site

  • Setup of temporary storage areas for final lifting

  • Crane assembly & unloading on site

  • Jacking of superstructure to a height of +5 m

  • SPMT deployment for millimetre-precise positioning

  • Hydraulic lowering into the final position

Project challenges

  • No tolerance during final installation – maximum precision required

  • Use of state-of-the-art technology – SPMT & lifting systems for millimetre-precise implementation

  • Tight space constraints in an urban environment – precise planning and coordination

KJJ Logistik AG also demonstrated its expertise in complete logistics at the Brunsbüttel lock gate: from heavy transport and maritime logistics to mobile crane handling and heavy goods ship loading to final assembly.

It was a fast-paced project: within a few days, 74 components had to be moved via various routes – combining sea, road and SPMT transport. This was accompanied by precise timing and close coordination with ports, authorities and assembly teams.

Within a few days, 74 large components weighing a total of 2,850 tonnes were moved – including a single component measuring 55 metres in length, 15 metres in width and weighing 450 tonnes.

Special transports where precision counts.

KJJ Logistik AG took on the transport of two oversized components for a chemical plant in North Rhine-Westphalia – safely, flexibly and on schedule.

A blocked main route put the project to the test at short notice. Within just five days, KJJ Logistik AG organised a 700 km alternative route – and ensured that the components reached their destination on time, safely and without delaying the project, despite all the adversities.

The combination of road transport, inland waterway transport, large crane unloading and SPMT deployment impressively demonstrated how demanding industrial projects can be implemented even under time pressure: without compromising on safety, precision and planning.

kjj-logistik-ag-Referenz_multimodal3.jpg

Project overview

Thanks to the multimodal approach, all machines were delivered safely, efficiently and on time to their respective destinations – without bottlenecks on the roads and with optimal use of water and sea transport.

Our services

  • Pre-carriage by heavy-duty low-loader: collection from the factory and transport to the transhipment port.

  • Transhipment & shipping: Loading in Basel or at alternative transhipment locations.

  • Inland waterway transport: Optimised routes via the Rhine and other waterways to seaports.

  • Sea transport & connecting logistics: Onward transport by coastal or RoRo ship, followed by road transport to the final destinations.

Project challenges

  • The dimensions and weights of the machines made pure road transport impossible.

  • Complex coordination between different modes of transport (road, inland waterway, sea).

  • Tight delivery windows and international coordination with ports, customs and recipients.
